Effective 07/28/21, PROPERLY EQUIPPED, REGISTERED GOLF CARTS and LOW SPEED VEHICLES are allowed for legal street use in approved DESIGNATED areas within Brookhaven city limits, WITH LIMITATIONS.

OWNERS of golf carts and low speed vehicles as defined in Senate Bill 2114 must REGISTER the cart and low speed vehicle and receive a PERMIT through the Brookhaven City Clerk’s Office prior to being operated on approved designated city streets.

DRIVERS MUST HAVE a valid driver’s license or driver’s permit and insurance.

Carts and low speed vehicles must be PROPERLY EQUIPPED for on-street use.

PROHIBITED AREAS for driving carts and low speed vehicles include sidewalks, streets with high traffic or speed limits of 30 mph or higher, and any roadways marked in red on the map below.

The BROOKHAVEN POLICE DEPARTMENT will enforce the city ordinance and issue tickets accordingly.
