When is cut off?

Cut off is usually the second week of the month.

What happens when my check is returned?

When a check is returned for NSF the customer is notified by a door hanger giving them till 1:00p.m.  the next day to come in and pay the amount of the check plus a $40.00 return check fee.  If it is not paid the water is turned off and it will cost an additional $40.00 service charge to get it back on.

If the check is returned for account closed the water is cut off that day with no notice.  It will cost the amount of the check plus $40.00 return check fee and $40.00 service charge before water will be cut back on.  If check is not paid it is sent to the District Attorney’s Office for collection.

When is the late charge applied?

The late charge is applied on the 20th of the month.  If the 20th falls on a weekend it is applied the next working day.

Please note: Failure to receive bill does not exempt customers from late charges.

When is the last day to pay my bill before it doubles?

The last working day of the month.  On the first of the next month both bill are due in full.

When is the last day to sign an agreement?

Agreement will be taken the first week of the month.  No agreement will be made the week of cut off.  The delinquent bill has to be paid and the current month bill is due on the 20th of the month.  If the 20th falls on a weekend, it is due the next working day.

Is the water department closed for lunch?

We are usually open from 8 to 5.

When is my meter read?

The first two digits of your account number determines when your meter is read.

  • 10 or 09 your meter is read around the 5st of the month.
  • 08 or 07 your meter is read around the 10th of the month
  • 06 or 05 your meter is read around the 15th of the month
  • 04 or 03 your meter is read around the 20th of the month
  • 02 or 01 your meter is read around the 25th of the month

What is a minimum bill?

A minimum bill is water usage of 0 – 2,000 gallons.

  • Water – $18.50
  • Sewer – $18.50
  • Garbage – $32.50
  • Total bill $69.50

Can I pay my bill online?

Yes,  go to msezpay.com

Can I set up my bill on bank draft?

Yes.  Fill out the bank draft form (linked here) and get it to us along with a canceled check or deposit slip.  Account will be draft around the 10th of the month.

Do you take credit cards or debit cards?

Yes, there is a 3.5% convenience fee.

WATER PLANT AND FACILITIES INFORMATION/

DIVISIONS WITHIN THE WATER DEPARTMENT

WATER PLANT/WELLS: The Water Plant/Wells Division is responsible for one water production treatment plant, nine water wells, and four water storage facilities. The plant is monitored and maintained 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year. The Division is responsibilities include: Mississippi State Department of Health testing and compliance, maintenance and operation of all onsite and remote monitoring telemetry along with facility maintenance, and after hours emergency issues.

WATER TRANSMISSION: The Water Transmission Division is responsible for maintenance of water distribution lines including repair of leaks, meter repair/meter reading, and installation of new water service. Other services include installation and repairs of fire hydrants, water mains, and meter boxes. The department also locates water mains in conjunction with Mississippi-One Call. The division is also responsible for after hours emergency issues.

SANITARY SEWER: The Sewer Division is responsible for maintenance of wastewater collection lines including repair/cleaning and installing new wastewater connection taps, service line clean-outs, repair of manholes, and flush out wastewater mains, and after hours emergency issues.

WATER ADMINISTRATION: The Water Department Administrator is responsible for preparation of billing for water, sewer, and garbage usage. The supervision of all utility customer accounts and complaints. The depositing of all collections and the completion of work orders. The preparation of monthly billing reports and maintains customer utility records. Prepares contracts and collects deposits from new customers and processes mail payments.
