Safe Return Order to Restart Economy and Resume Community Activities

Per Governor Tate Reeves’ Safe Return Executive Order No. 1492, as of 8:00 a.m. today, there are no more business closures in Mississippi. Retailers, businesses, restaurants and salons will continue measures to help protect your health as we begin the final phase to safely restart the economy and resume community activities.

Order No. 1492 is effective through 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020, unless rescinded, modified or extended. The City of Brookhaven will make copies of the Order available in the City Clerk’s office to anyone who requests a copy for their own review. Click here to view details.

As we reopen and residents begin going back to work, I urge you to not let your guard down–the coronavirus is still active and contagious. Please be cautious and follow social gathering and safe practice guidelines by continuing social distancing, wearing masks, and using good hygiene. These measures will help protect you, as well as your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors.

Thank you for the diligent steps you have taken during these past weeks to combat COVID-19 in our community. I know it has not been easy. My prayers remain with the families who lost loved ones during the pandemic.

Stay strong, stay smart, stay vigilant and stay informed. This is still not over, but Brookhaven is resilient and we will get through this together.

Joe C. Cox

Mayor, City of Brookhaven
